In 2002, a group of local sportsmen and sportswomen joined together to form a chapter of Waterfowl U.S.A., the Southwestern Lake Erie Chapter (S.W.L.E.C.).

Waterfowl U.S.A. is a national non-profit organization that is committed to local habitat issues. Therefore, the 70% of the money raised from SWLEC events stays in the local area for habitat projects. We are committed to preserving America’s wetlands and raising local bucks for local ducks. In Michigan, over 60% of the ducks harvested are raised locally in the Great Lakes Region, which is where the SWLEC Chapter focuses its efforts.

Jerry Bartnik / Earl Cusino Scholarship

We would like to Congratulate Hunter Kominek as the 2017 Scholarship winner

The scholarship is named after two outstanding individuals that carrying a strong passion for Conservation and the outdoors. And they both valued higher education.  Southwestern Lake Erie Chapter of Waterfowl USA is committed to helping future conservationists with their cost towards College.  Each year we reach out to local high schools for seniors going into Natural Resources Management, Wildlife Management or a similar major.  To apply the senior has to write a one to two page essay on where you are attending college, passion for the outdoors, hobbies and your desired degree.  The application deadline is usually the beginning of February and the winner is announced at the banquet and will be offered free dinner tickets.  For more information contact Bill Jacobs 734-777-2415.
