Waterfowl U.S.A. and all of our Chapters realize that the youth of today will be our leaders of tomorrow. With this in mind, we are working diligently to educate our youth in sound conservation practices. Todays youth need to be taught and understand that while our waterfowl resource is a renewable resource, our wetlands are a resource that must be protected.
By getting our youth actively involved in hands-on conservation projects at an early age, we will be able to instill in them the same appreciation, love and respect of the great outdoors that we have developed. With the ever increasing rate of urbanization of society, this is more important today than ever.
Working toward this end, Waterfowl U.S.A. has established our "Woodie" Program to provide a means for our Chapters to involve their local youth in their conservation projects. The "Woodie" Program provides for a special "Woodie" membership with reduced membership dues for children 16 years old and younger. This entitles the "Woodie" member to their own personalized membership card, a special "Woodie" member window decal, and their own one-year subscription to Waterfowl Magazine.
Waterfowl U.S.A. encourages all of our Chapters to involve youngsters in all aspects of their conservation activities. Waterfowl U.S.A. Chapters have Father/Son Banquets, youth field days, youth projects, youth camps, and also work on conservation projects in conjunction with the Boy Scouts. Who could think of a better way to spend time with a child than to spend a day in the great outdoors enjoying the wonders of Mother Nature?
